Texans' Jadeveon Clowney is not a fan of former teammate Brock Osweiler

When the Houston Texans host the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night, they’ll be playing against a familiar face: quarterback Brock Osweiler, who started 14 games for the team in 2016 after signing a huge — and, for the Texans, hugely ill-advised — contract with the team earlier that year.

One of his former teammates isn’t exactly anxiously awaiting the reunion.

‘I don’t really care for him’

Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who is fashioning quite a season for himself, was asked on Tuesday about Osweiler’s time with Houston.

“He ain’t here no more, so I don’t really care for him,” Clowney said, via the Houston Chronicle. “We didn’t win a lot with him. Trying to go against him now, just trying to get after him this week up front and rattle him in the pocket and hope he throws a couple of picks.”

Osweiler threw 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in his 14 starts (15 appearances), though the Texans still went 8-6 in games he started.

Osweiler downplays matchup

For his part, Osweiler told Miami reporters that playing against Houston is “just another game” and that he’s “very proud of the things we accomplished” in his brief time with the Texans.

Osweiler and Texans coach Bill O’Brien did not get along, and Houston was so desperate to get rid of Osweiler after just one season that it gave the Browns second- and sixth-round picks to take the quarterback (the Texans got a fourth-round pick back).

Osweiler never played a regular season snap for the Browns.

Not much Miami love from Texans

Clowney wasn’t the only Texans player who made an interesting comment about a Dolphins opponent.

On Monday, Miami cornerback Xavien Howard was asked about Texans all-world receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Howard, who will likely shadow Hopkins quite a bit, said Hopkins “likes to push off a lot.”

(For the record, Hopkins hasn’t drawn a single flag for offensive pass interference this year.)

Hopkins was asked about Howard’s claim and asked back, “Who’s Xavien Howard?”
