Tesla crashes through Subway window after driver says it ‘malfunctioned,’ WA cops say

People eating at their local Subway in Washington had quite the surprise Sunday afternoon.

A Tesla crashed through the front window of a Subway in Woodland, Washington, at about 4 p.m., police say. The driver said the Tesla Sedan “malfunctioned,” which made the car run right into the building.

One of the passengers inside the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and there were no other injuries reported, police say.

“It honestly sounded like a bomb went off and in an instant there was glass all over me,” one woman who said she was in the building when it happened wrote on Facebook. “Thank God he came in at an angle so the concrete wall stopped the momentum of the car. ... If it had just gone straight through the glass store front, I’m not sure I’d still be here. The driver did not seem to be impaired.”

Police confirmed that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, according to the news release.
