Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office receives award from disability advocate organization

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — In early January, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office was selected by Arc of Louisiana as its 2023 Employer of the Year.

According to a release, Arc of Louisiana is a community-based organization designed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet and Human Resources Director Major Brent Hidalgo accepted the “prestigious” award on Jan. 26 during a Special Honors and Awards banquet in Gonzalez.

TPSO officials said they have always been an advocate for employing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Part of the TPSO’s efforts include working within different departments in the office to create more opportunities for people with disabilities who wish to work in law enforcement.

At the ceremony, Soignet extended his gratitude to Arc of Louisiana, “I am extremely honored that our agency was chosen in support of a worthwhile organization.”
