Tennessee man arrested in Nacogdoches County after police find 2 lbs of meth

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office said a Tennessee man was arrested on Sunday after deputies found two pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

According to a release, deputies noticed a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan driving too close to another vehicle in the 8000 block of U.S. 59. Authorities then conducted a traffic stop to warn the driver about tailgating.

The sheriff’s office said the driver and the passenger, Timothy D. Moore, 43, of Memphis, provided conflicting accounts about their trip to Houston leading to a search of the vehicle.

During the search, authorities reportedly found drugs hidden inside a grocery bag.

“Concealed in a grocery bag along with several snack items, deputies found a cardboard gallon-bag box stuffed with 2.26 lbs of methamphetamine stored in a gallon bag,” the sheriff’s office said.

The driver was released after Moore reportedly claimed ownership of the methamphetamine.

Moore was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail on a first degree felony of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
