Tennessee High seniors return to elementary, middle schools ahead of graduation

BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — Tennessee High School seniors participated in a walk through their elementary and middle schools on Thursday.

The tradition allows graduating seniors the opportunity to return to their former schools to walk the halls once again. Younger students cheered on the seniors as they walked through the halls in their cap and gowns.

Tennessee High senior Keeley Canter said the tradition is nostalgic.

“It’s surreal, definitely coming back here,” Canter said. “It’s crazy how you still feel like you know your way around the school after it’s been so many years and seeing all the teachers. It’s really nostalgic.”

Several Tennessee High seniors visited Haynesfield Elementary and were able to share with current students their fondest memories of the school.

Haynesfield Elementary teacher Ana Buckmaster, who taught the Tennessee High seniors in 3rd grade, said the group was special.

“I’m excited,” Buckmaster said. “They were a special group, and I never forgot any of them just because they always showed so much energy and excitement for them in the classroom. And they just made an impression on me back in 3rd grade.”
