D.J. Jefferson, a top-150 player in the 2022 class, signed with Tennessee basketball on Friday.

He decommitted from Tulsa in March and chose the Vols over Wake Forest and Washington State.

Jefferson is a 6-foot-5 small forward from Minnesota Prep Academy in Saint Paul. He is rated a four-star prospect and the No. 131 player overall in the 2022 class by 247Sports Composite

VOLS RECRUITING: Tennessee lands commitment from 6-8 forward Tobe Awaka

"D.J. is a lot of fun to be around," UT coach Rick Barnes said in a school release. "He's got an engaging personality and infectious positive energy. That energy really translates to the basketball court. He's an exciting player in transition who loves getting out in the open court. D.J. is also a high-level defender with big shoulders and a long wingspan. I think Tennessee fans will love getting to know him and watching him compete."

UT has two open scholarships available for the 2022-23 roster. Five-star wing Julian Phillips and four-star Knox Catholic point guard B.J. Edwards already signed, and Indiana transfer point guard Tyreke Key will join the mix.

Tobe Awaka, a 6-8 power forward, is slotted for the 2023 class. But he could choose to reclassify in the 2022 class.
