Tennant and Piper have pretty grim Doctor Who theory

This July will mark the 10th anniversary since the hugely memorable Doctor Who in which The Doctor bid farewell to Rose Tyler once and for all.

That series four finale climaxed with The Doctor (David Tennant) dropping off Rose (Billie Piper) and a meta-crisis clone of himself (also Tennant) to live happily ever after together. Re-live that moment below:

Fans know that the proper Doctor went off to have various adventures with different faces, but what exactly happened to the meta-crisis Doctor and Rose?

David and Billie have their theories, and they shared them with fans at a Wizard World fan convention over the weekend (via The Radio Times).

Everything started off well enough when the duo got an overwhelmingly positive reaction when they asked fans if they thought Rose and the meta-crisis Doctor had children.

"Well then, apparently they did have a family," David decided. "The hall at this particular comic-con has decided."

Billie reasoned that the couple probably only had two children because "they're quite self-involved [and] anything more would've" been trouble, with David agreeing: "Jackie's probably bringing them up."

Absentee parents isn't really how we pictured The Doctor and Rose, but it gets worse. David predicted that life stuck on one planet, with no Daleks to battle, wouldn't have suited either one in the end.

"They'd have slid into alcoholism," David joked, with Billie adding: "And died of boredom."

Well, now we're just depressed. It got even worse when David likened the pair to The Royle Family, thus turning the knife a bit more. You might as well delete your fanfic, at this point.

Luckily, the real Doctor and Rose continue to have exciting adventures through the medium of audio adventures with Big Finish, so check those out if you want to restore your faith in the couple.

Or just watch some of The Royle Family and wallow in your feelings. Whatever's more your bag.
