ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Beaver Lake division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced some swim beaches at Beaver Lake are closing due to E. coli concerns, according to a news release.

USACE says these swim beaches will be closed until further notice:

  • Hickory Creek

  • Horseshoe Bend Campground

  • Indian Creek

  • Lost Bridge South

  • Prairie Creek

  • Rocky Branch Day Use

  • Rocky Branch Campground

  • Dam Site Island

  • Horseshoe Bend Day Use Area

The closures are due to higher than acceptable E. coli levels found during routine testing done by project office personnel.

Two swim beaches, Lost Bridge North and Dam Site Day Use Area, will remain open, USACE said.

Signs have been posted by USACE indicating high bacteria levels at the swim beaches. USACE said rangers will retest on May 20 and 21.

Beaches will be reopened when test results show bacteria levels are within an acceptable range, according to the release.
