20 of the Fastest Four-Doors Around the Nürburgring
Hatchbacks, fastbacks, SUVs and sedans—these aren't the first cars you'd think of as Nurburgring record-setters. But these high-performance haulers put down some serious lap times on the Nordschleife. If it's got four doors for passengers to get in and out of, and a kick-ass 'Ring time, it's on this list.

2009 Cadillac CTS-V - 7:59.32
The first-generation CTS-V was a surprise, but it was the second generation that really came out swinging. The interior felt high end, it packed a 556-hp V8 under the hood, and it could seriously handle. The fact that in 2008, a Cadillac sedan could lap the Nurburgring in less than eight minutes was pretty impressive, too.

2018 Audi RS4 Avant - 7:58.52
Germany's Sport Auto was able to lay down an impressive 7:58 time around the Nordschleife thanks to the RS4's massive grip and turbo grunt.

2011 Subaru WRX STI - 7:55.0
Since it was first introduced, the focus of the Subaru WRX STI has been on handling, not raw power. As a result, it's always been able to get through the corners quickly. And on the Nurburgring, a 2011 sedan was able to lay down a respectable time of 7:55 in the hands of rally champ Tommi Makinen.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio - 7:51.7
Back when the Stelvio was launched, the company promised it would be the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring. Well, with an impressive time of 7:51.7, it did just that, besting the Range Rover Sport SVR and taking the SUV Green Hell crown. It's since been topped by the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S.

2017 Volvo S60 Polestar - 7:51.11
Volvo actually kept its S60 Polestar Nurburgring lap a secret for a year before revealing a time in 2017. With a 362-horsepower twin-charged four-cylinder engine, it was able to lay down a very fast 7:51.

For a while, the previous-gen Type R held the front-wheel drive Nurburgring record with a time of 7:50.63 for some time until it was toppled by the three-door Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S.

Audi RS Q8
The RS Q8 has yet to be officially unveiled, but that hasn't stopped Audi from taking it to the 'Ring to set a record. It was able to lay down a 7:42.3 time, solidifying it as the quickest SUV to ever lap the legendary track.

2020 Porsche Taycan
The Taycan is the only electric vehicle on this list, and despite not having an engine, it managed to set an impressive 7:42 time at the hands of Lars Kern. All-wheel drive and an 800-volt electrical system certainly had something to do with it.

2020 Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R - 7:40.1
The Mégane R.S. Trophy-R uses the same 300-horsepower engine as its Trophy sibling, but thanks to 286 pounds in weight savings and revised aerodynamics, it's much quicker around a race track. It put up a 7:40.1 lap time around the 'Ring, making it the quickest front-wheel drive production car to ever lap the circuit.

The Tesla Model S Plaid may be best-known for its straight-line speed, but it's performance isn't too shabby on the Nordschleife either. Despite its near 2.5-ton curb weight, the 1020-hp EV was able to lay down an officially sanctioned lap time quicker than the mighty M5 CS.

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - 7:32
In an effort to take on the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-AMG C63, Alfa Romeo went over the top in the very best way. The Giulia QV makes 505 horsepower, hits 60 mph in less than four seconds, and—with a time of 7:32—currently occupies the third spot for fastest four-door around the Nordschleife.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S - 7:25.41
As much as Mercedes would like you to think its GT sedan is a "coupe," it's really a hatchback with a sloping roof and four doors, hence its spot on the list. Mercedes claims this 7:25 time is a record for "four-seater production cars," yet the Nissan GT-R set a faster time, and also has four seats.

2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 - 7:21.23
Jaguar didn't hold anything back when it built the XE SV Project 8. The car is completely bespoke compared to the normal XE sedan, with carbon-fiber body panels, a ton of aero, and a 592-horsepower supercharged V8. All those upgrades culminate in a 7:21 lap time, making the Project 8 by far the fastest sedan to ever loop the Nurburgring.
