Ten DMV spots with Easter activities for the whole family

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Easter is coming up, and for those looking to get a head start on planning fun activities for kids or the whole family, here’s a list of 10 places around the DMV hosting festivities.

Bunny Train Ride Walkersville Southern Railroad

Experience a scenic train ride through the historic Monocacy Valley, take pictures with the Easter Bunny and receive a small prize for each child. The rides are 1 hour and 10 minutes each, and reservations are required.

Where: 34 West Pennsylvania Ave., Walkersville, Md.
When: March 23, 24, and 30 at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Cost: Coach seats are $18 for kids ages 2-12 and $22 for anyone ages 12 and up.

Take photos with the Easter Bunny in Pentagon City

The website encourages reservations for the 15-minute time slots provided. If a reservation is made, families will receive free virtual activities including coloring pages and activity sheets.

Easter Treasure Hunt at O Street Museum Mansion

This mansion is an absolute maze and a surefire way to have fun. With over 100 rooms and 80 secret doors, the treasure hunt is sure to be a challenge. The whole family can go and find the Easter and spring-themed items that are hidden throughout the mansion.

When: March 29 to April 2, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday through Tuesday

Cost: $50 per person

Montgomery County libraries holding free animation workshops for children during spring break

Bunnyland at Butler’s Orchard

Bunnyland has several activities available to keep kids entertained all day- participation in the egg hunt, goodie baskets, a hayride, a visit with the Easter Bunny, and access to multiple play sites and structures are included with the price of admission. Bunnyland also offers face painting and pony rides, which aren’t included in the ticket price. The website strongly advises reservations.

Tudor Place Eggstravaganza

The Tudor Place Museum hosts an annual spring tradition including an egg hunt and an egg roll, where children push an egg through the grass with a long wooden spoon, which takes place on their South Lawn. Each child must bring a basket, hard-boiled egg, and spoon to participate.

Occoquan Peep Week

During the week leading up to Easter, businesses around historic Occoquan will make and display dioramas using the classic Easter candy- peeps! Families can stroll through town to enjoy the Peep art, but they can also vote on the winning diorama through forms found at participating businesses. It’s not just businesses that make them either! Visit the Occoquan Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to see the dioramas made by members of the community.

Burnside Farms Festival of Spring

This festival isn’t directly an Easter event, but tulips this year should be blooming right around the same time as all the holiday festivities. Check more than 150 varieties of tulips and over 30 varieties of daffodils at the farm.

You’ll also get five flowers included in the admission cost.

There are also picnic tables for dining from local food vendors set up at the farm and an activity area with games and structures for playing.

Where: 11008 Kettle Run Rd., Nokesville, Va.
When: TBD, open for three weeks at the end of March/ beginning of April depending on when flowers bloom (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Cost: $19 on weekdays, $21 on weekends, children ages 5 and under are free

Easter Egg Hunt at the Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden

Easter eggs are hidden in the Lee-Fendall Garden as part of an annual egg hunt hosted by the museum. Crafts, games, and a visit from the Easter Bunny are also included.

When: Hour-long sessions are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 and March 30
Cost: $15 per children ages 2-12, $5 for accompanying adults

Great Country Farms Egg Hunt and Brunch

Egg Hunt: This popular egg hunt sells out every year for a reason. Along with the hunt, visitors can play with the farm’s spring chicks and baby animals, roast marshmallows and take a wagon ride to marvel at the spring’s beauty.

Bull Run Egg Scavenger Hunt

At Bull Run Regional Park in Northern Virginia, anyone can participate in their daily scavenger hunt. Egg hunt sheets can be found at the Camp Store before beginning the search, and then once finished, there is a reward!

When: March 23 to 31 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost: $8 per child, additional $8 fee per car on weekends
