Temporary bridge closure planned in Tazewell County

TAZEWELL, VA (WVNS) — Due to concrete work, a bridge in Tazewell County will be temporarily closed.

According to a Facebook post made by the Town of Tazewell, on Friday, April 26, 2024, Route 16 West Riverside Bridge will be closed for concrete work from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

DUI Checkpoint to be held in Raleigh County

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the bridge, such as Route 645 (Cavitts Road) that is 2.2 miles north of the bridge project, Route 631 (Baptist Valley Road) to get to either Route 637 (Cochran Hollow Road) or Route 639 (Earls Branch Road) to access US Route 19/460. Route 631 is 1.4 miles north of the bridge project.

The Town of Tazewell stated that June 2024 is the estimated date for the bridge to be completed according to the VDOT.
