BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — As a trough of low pressure sweeps over California today, we’ll cool down a few degrees with passing clouds and better air quality. There’s a slight chance of rain later today into the overnight hours, mainly near Frazier Park.

Expect below-average highs with breezy mid-70s in the valley and Kern Desert, upper 60s in the Kern River Valley, and windy low 60s in the south mountains of Tehachapi and Frazier Park.

There’s a wind advisory in effect for the Kern County mountain and desert locations from 5 p.m. this evening through 11 p.m. Friday, with westerly winds sustained at 25 to 35 mph and gusts to 55 mph or faster. That will lead to the possibility of blowing dust in the desert and potential power outages.

Tomorrow is an “in-between” day, with passing clouds but no rain, before a slightly stronger digs in Friday. That system brings faster winds, more cloud cover, and a chance for showers and thunderstorms.

That second storm moves out Saturday, with a northwesterly flow keeping that cool, clean ocean air coming on shore through the weekend ahead!
