Fans of singer Shawn Mendes have created a viral hashtag, #GloUpForShawn, to post photos of their transformations throughout his career. And while the tweets curated to the hashtag are meant to reveal the dedication of his fans and how they have grown with his music, one super fan from the Netherlands decided to make her “glo up” more personal.

In a series of three photos posted to her Twitter account, 17-year-old Andrietta shared her touching transformation, revealing that she had cancer as a baby.

“Cancer didn’t win in 2001 so now we glowing in 2017,” she wrote in the tweet that has garnered more than 160,000 likes and nearly 1,000 replies.

The first of the photos is of Andrietta when she was just a year old. And although the picture was taken while she was ill, she still had a smile quite similar to the one on her face today. Positivity radiates throughout the teen’s Twitter account, where she regularly posts inspirational words. But it’s been a difficult road from her illness as an infant, she shares.

“I had to go to the hospital each year for as long as I can remember,” Andrietta tells Yahoo Beauty. “Since I had cancer as a baby, I don’t remember anything about what happened — just what my family has told me.”

This January, Andrietta celebrated 15 years of being cancer-free. But it’s still painful to hear her family’s account of her suffering.

“What really gets me is thinking about how my family must have felt seeing a loved one fight such a hard battle at such a young age,” she says.

It’s evident that she understands the difficulty of what she went through. Andrietta’s Twitter bio reads, “you just gotta hold on,” while her cover photo says, “Happiness looks gorgeous on you.” And she goes even further to spread positivity by responding to every reply on her now-viral tweet, sharing kind words with each individual.

Now, Andrietta lives her life just like any other teenage girl: by trying to win the heart of Shawn Mendes.
