Teens charged in SC shooting that caused pregnant woman to lose baby, police say

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — Two 16-year-olds were arrested Friday in connection with a February shooting on Charles Street in Florence that injured a man and caused a pregnant woman to lose her baby, authorities said.

The teenagers were charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. They were arrested without incident by Florence police and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The shooting happened on Feb. 24, and the baby died after the woman underwent surgery, Keith von Lutcken said.

It is unknown where the woman was shot, and she is still recovering. The man who was shot has been released from medical care, police said.

The teens were taken to a state Department of Juvenile Justice to await a bond hearing, police said.
