A teenager has died after being found unconscious at a bus stop in Leeds.

The 19-year-old woman was found by a passerby just after 5am on Wednesday.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead a short time later.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the circumstances of her death are currently being treated as unexplained.

The road has been closed near the bus shelter and a police cordon remains in place as officers investigate the death.

West Yorkshire Police said in a statement: “At 5.03am today (19/2) police were called to a bus shelter in South Parkway, Seacroft, where a woman had been found unconscious by a member of the public.

“The 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead a short time later.

“A road closure is in place at the bus stop, which is near to the junction with Ironwood View, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.”
