LAS VEGAS (AP) -- An 18-year-old accused of being under the influence of prescription drugs when he plowed a vehicle into a crowded Las Vegas restaurant is expected in court Thursday.
A court clerk says Gage James Lindsey appeared Wednesday by videoconference from jail, and is scheduled to appear in person Thursday.
The judge could appoint a lawyer to represent him at that time.
The lunchtime crash on Monday left 10 people injured, some seriously, after the 2003 Lexus sedan upended patio tables and slammed into a picture window at the Egg & I on Sahara Avenue, about 2 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.
Police say Lindsey attempted to discard a Xanax pill while he and a 21-year-old passenger, David Roldan, tried to run from the scene. They were tackled by witnesses.
Authorities allege Lindsey did not have a prescription for the drugs he had taken.
Roldan wasn't charged with a crime.
