Teen shot near old courthouse in downtown Worcester; expected to be OK

WORCESTER — A teenager was injured in a downtown shooting Monday afternoon, police said.

The shooting of the 18-year-old male occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the area of 2 Main St., according to police. Officers responded to a report of gunshots.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting happened near the old Worcester County Courthouse, which was converted into the Courthouse Lofts apartments.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Police records show this shooting was the 12th instance of gunshots reported in the past week.
