A teenager who pleaded guilty to falsely posing as a physician assistant in Texas and trying to trick Oklahoma auto dealerships into buying vehicles he claimed to have almost paid off has been sentenced to prison.

On March 26, in Nueces County, 28th District Court Judge Nanette Hasette sentenced Zachry Brent Bailey, 19, to two five-year terms to run concurrently.

Bailey, who pleaded guilty in Oklahoma County District Court to several felony counts of obtaining property by deception or false representation, was extradited to Texas in February on a motion to revoke his probation.

In 2022, Bailey made headlines after he pleaded guilty to pretending to be a physician's assistant in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was sentenced to six years' probation and allowed to move to Oklahoma.

Bailey, who was 17 at the time, blended in at two hospitals by wearing a $41 pair of scrubs, according to a report by KRIS-TV.

The report said Bailey managed to get a badge and gain access to emergency room areas, intensive care units, operating rooms and nursery units. Hospital staff looking up Bailey on social media learned he wasn’t who he portrayed himself to be.

While on probation in Oklahoma, authorities said, Bailey tried to cheat auto dealers with fraudulent documents indicating that he only owed small amounts on cars he wanted to sell. In fact, he owed large amounts on the loans.

The transactions were stopped before they were completed.
