Teen killed in motorcycle crash southwest of Wichita over weekend

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A teen was killed in a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning.

According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at midnight to a crash that resulted in injuries in the 6800 block of W. 55th St. S.

When deputies arrived at the scene, a bystander was doing CPR on 16-year-old Remone Fareed Halabi. EMS arrived and also attempted life-saving measures, but Halabi was pronounced dead at the scene.

A primary investigation revealed that Halabi was driving a black 2003 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on West 55th Street South. At the same time, a red 2013 Nissan 430z, driven by a 26-year-old man, was also headed westbound on West 55th Street South.

The SCSO says as the Nissan turned left into a driveway, Halabi attempted to pass him on the driver’s side and, as a result, ran into him.

Halabi was wearing a helmet.
