Teen fatally shot in San Marcos identified

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities have identified the 17-year-old who was fatally shot last week in San Marcos.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Isaac Shekhayem of San Marcos was shot around 11:30 p.m. on May 15 while standing with a group of people in a parking lot of a business center at the 900 block of Los Vallecitos Blvd.

Detectives were able to determine an unknown vehicle pulled over on Los Vallecitos Blvd. and an unknown suspect then got out of the vehicle, pulled out a firearm and fired several rounds toward the group, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies report Shekhayem was shot in the upper torso and taken to Palomar Hospital by two companions. He died at the hospital a short time later.

After an autopsy, his cause of death has been ruled a homicide from a gunshot wound.

Authorities say the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation. There is no information on any suspects at this time.
