Teen in custody after standoff with police while in tree

A 15-year-old boy, who police said had marijuana in his possession, refused to come down from a tree for more than an hour in Greenfield Park.

West Allis police told WISN 12 News they were called to a report of disorderly conduct in the 2000 block of South 116th Street.

The boy fled to Greenfield Park, swam out to an island in the middle of the lagoon and climbed a tree.

He made phone calls and flipped people off while up in the tree.

About 7:30 p.m., the teen came down from the tree voluntarily and was taken into custody, police said.

Deputies closed the park to the public, saying the teen wouldn't come down if people watched.
