The risks of sharing personal information on social media came to fruition Wednesday after a California teen traveled across state lines to confront an Arizona teen at their home following weeks of arguments on social media over rapper Nicki Minaj.

The argument began around March 2 surrounding disagreements on Minaj’s most recent album and gained attention on X, formerly known as Twitter, when a 17-year-old Arizona resident posted his address along with a video in his front yard.

An 18-year-old Californian replied with a screenshot of an Apple Maps route to the 17-year-old's address with the caption "See you soon."

In the days after, the threats between the two escalated and messages over social media were exchanged from both teens about meeting up to physically fight.

The arguments between the two gained rapid attention after Minaj fans known as "Barbz" commented on the two sides and defended their own opinions.

The 18-year-old posted a video on X on the evening of March 8 addressing the Arizona resident saying that they would be flying to Arizona and coming to his house, followed by days of more updates and travel confirmations.

After crossing state lines on Wednesday, the California teen arrived at the Scottsdale residence prompting the 17-year-old and his father to call the police.

Scottsdale Police Department reported that no crime had occurred and no one was detained or arrested.

"The Scottsdale Police Department encourages everyone to guard their personal information on any online platform. People should only share personal information with those they know and trust," said police officials.

Officials said the family of the 18-year-old was contacted and they were working to get them home safely. According to an X post, the Californian returned to their family in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The 17-year-old's X account was suspended for violating X rules.
