When a teen couple joked that they bought a house, Twitter dragged them hard
What is the worst thing a teen can do? Own real estate, apparently.
A young couple from Texas received quite the backlash after posting a photo pretending to be home owners. Natalia Kaiser, 17, and her boyfriend, Joe, took a pic in front of his aunt's house because they were wearing matching shirts.
Since they ended up kind of looking like happy little home owners in the photo, Natalia thought it would be funny to caption it as such on Twitter.
We just bought our first house at the age of 17&16. So proud of how hard we worked these last few years to get it 😁 pic.twitter.com/h0x4ZguN5O

And then things went south fast. People's responses were pretty nasty — they clearly did not realize it was meant to be funny.
you can’t buy a house until you are 18 ? pic.twitter.com/ZvTxyfDQYD

Natalia told Mashable, "Within two hours all the responses were just people being shocked by our ages and how we bought a house. By the next day people started posting negatively whether knowing it was a all a joke or not."
YIKES.

Luckily, Natalia says she and Joe aren't too put off by the haters,
"I find most of the responses humorous, both negative ones and the ones meant to be funny because I know everyone now is just trying to get attention. Some of the negative ones do take it a little too far with their humor where it just annoys me and my boyfriend."
And just to make things super clear for everyone, Natalia's twitter bio now reads, "I am not a home owner."
