Police said the teen driver was speeding on Nov. 20, 2023 at 5 a.m. while under the influence when he lost control of the car and struck a tree. The crash caused the car to tumble into a neighbor’s yard and eject five passengers who were not wearing seatbelts. The sixth passenger had to be extracted from the car.

One passenger died from his injuries in the hospital a week later. The rest of the teens, all between the ages of 14 to 17, were seriously injured, but have been since released from the hospital.
