Teen caught in possession of stolen car, wallet

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 19-year-old who allegedly stole a vehicle and another person’s wallet is now in jail, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Trayvarious Lugo is charged with burglary of a vehicle and two counts of theft of property.

On March 20, a victim stated that her car was broken into in Whitehaven and that her black Michael Kors wallet was stolen. The wallet reportedly contained identification and credit cards.

On March 25, officers say a victim reported his Toyota Corolla stolen from Parkway Village.

The following day, Memphis Police responded to the Z Market at 2741 Getwell Road. The victim told police that a male suspect, later identified as Trayvarious Lugo, was in his Toyota Corolla.

MPD says when they arrived on the scene Lugo approached them, saying his black backpack was in the backseat of the Toyota Corolla. Lugo was then taken into custody at that time.

Officers say they also found the victim’s car keys in Lugo’s possession. A black Michael Kors wallet was inside the black backpack.

After further investigation, police discovered it belonged to the female suspect who reported it missing a week before.

Trayvarious Lugo’s next court appearance is set for Thursday morning. He is being held in jail on a $30,000 bond.

This comes after Lugo’s arrest on March 7 where officers say he was pulled over for driving a car with an expired driveout tag.

Police say the vehicle had shown to be stolen once they ran the VIN. A green leafy substance was also inside the car and tested positive for marijuana.
