Teen arrested after person found shot to death inside vehicle in central Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 17-year-old faces a charge of open murder after a person was found shot to death in a vehicle in the central Las Vegas valley.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Monday, May 6, at around 4 a.m., a man called 911 saying his 17-year-old son shot his friend at an unknown location.

Officers went to the man’s home and learned the shooting occurred in the 1600 block of East St. Louis Avenue, near East Sahara Avenue and South Maryland Parkway.

Officers canvassed the area and found the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

LVMPD officers learned the 17-year-old suspect shot the victim intentionally and arrested him, booking him in the Clark County Juvenile Hall for open murder.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jazlynn Johnson, 18.
