Teen arrested in February shooting that injured minor

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to a February shooting on South Academy Boulevard that left a minor injured, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD said the 17-year-old suspect, who is from Colorado Springs, was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 23 by the Assault Unit for their involvement in the shooting. The teen is currently being held for Felony Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile.

The shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 13 near Astrozon Boulevard and South Academy. Officers responded to the scene and found a minor with at least one gunshot wound in a parking lot a block away. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At the time of the shooting, CSPD said it was searching for two suspects in connection to the shooting. More arrests are expected, CSPD said.
