In a Facebook post, OCSO shared that a former Davidson Middle School student has been arrested and charged with making an electronic threat of a mass shooting/ terrorist act.

The teenager — who was enrolled in online school — was taken into custody after a school resource officer at Davidson received information from a student that “an unknown number sent an electronic message threatening to blow up the school,” the post said.

Following investigations, deputies with the OCSO reportedly determined that the number belonged to the 14-year-old.

In an interview with law enforcement, the teen told deputies that he made the threat as a joke, according to reports.

Regardless, “The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy for individuals making school threats,” the post said. “Making a written or electronic threat of a mass shooting or terrorist act is a second-degree felony.”
