Ted Cruz warns Democrats have sights set on Texas in November

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) warned his supporters Tuesday that Democrats have their sights set on his home state for upcoming elections.

“Democrats plan to spend over $100 million in this race, and they want to flip Texas, and I’ll tell you what this race is all about. This race is all about keeping Texas, Texas,” Cruz said during Houston campaign event, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Democrats “have put a bullseye on the state of Texas,” Cruz told attendees at the event, the Chronicle reported.

A conservative super PAC said it will spend at least $10 million on Cruz’s reelection campaign against Rep. Colin Allred (D), The Washington Post first reported in early March.

The Club for Growth Action “has been strongly behind Sen. Ted Cruz since he was first elected, and we plan to spend 8 figures in his race against [President Biden’s] MVP Rep. Colin Allred,” David McIntosh, Club for Growth Action president, said in a statement.

“Allred has a long record of siding with Biden on the leftist policies wrecking the economy and driving inflation and dangerous crime,” McIntosh continued.

Allred is centering the race around abortion, a strategy Democrats across the nation have seen as key to boosting voter turnout and energizing their base in the 2024 cycle. He’s also previously taken aim at the Republican for a lack of support when it comes to the issue of in vitro fertilization.

“Texans who want nothing more than to start a family are scared, and Ted Cruz’s dangerous record has put their rights and freedoms at risk,” Allred said in a late February statement.
