Ted Cruz lovingly elbows his wife in the face

Things did not end smoothly for the Cruz campaign.

After Ted Cruz announced the suspension of his campaign to a crowd of people crying and yelling "NO!" he had the most awkward send-off since Jeb Bush left the race in February.

Immediately following a loving hug with his wife, Heidi Cruz, Ted accidentally knocks her in the nose, and follows it up with a swift elbow to the eye as he goes to give his father Rafael Cruz a hug. A fundamental mistake in the hug-to-hug transition.

In an attempt to right his wrong, Cruz then tries including Heidi in a very awkward group hug. Because there is no such thing as a non-awkward group hug.
