Electric vehicle Earth Day event to take place in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Drive Electric Alabama — a “statewide coalition dedicated to improving [Alabama] through the adoption of electric vehicles” — will be holding an electric vehicle event in Mobile in honor of Earth Day, according to a news release.

The Electric Vehicle event is scheduled to happen in four Alabama cities — including Mobile.

Events will take place in Mobile, Enterprise, Fort Payne and Birmingham. The Mobile event will he held by the Bay Area Chapter of DEA. It will take place on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mobile Japanese Garden.

According to the release, the free event will feature electric vehicle owners showcasing a variety of vehicles. The electric vehicle owners will also share personal experiences and talk one-on-one with anyone interested in learning more about the industry.

“While it’s true that we have more electric vehicles on Alabama highways than ever before, many people still have questions about EVs,” said Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition President Michael Staley, who helped plan and coordinate the EVents.

“There are so many new models out there, and the EV market is evolving so quickly that it’s hard to keep up. That’s why talking to EV owners who are driving electric every day can be so valuable.”
