A host of satellite events and workshops will also take place around Manchester parallel to the festival.

The Australian edition of the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event, CeBIT takes place annually in Sydney, Australia. CeBIT Australia is hailed as the country's largest ICT exhibition (but is only around a tenth of the size of its parent event, CeBIT in Hannover). CeBIT Australia is a focal point of an additional series of events (including Cloud, AusInnovate, eHealth, eGovernment, Mobile, Online Retail and Digital Workshops) that will run concurrently to the exhibition. More than 600 exhibitors and 30,000 delegates are expected to attend CeBIT Australia in 2012.

With 106,450 square meters of exhibition space, Computex Taipei (also known as the Taipei International Information Technology Show) is the largest computer exhibition in Asia, second in the world only to CeBIT in Germany. Many large computing firms have research and development centers or production factories in Taiwan and will launch their new products at the event. A full spectrum of products are set for launch during the event including tablets, e-readers, smartphones, 3D technology and cloud services. More than 120,000 visitors attended Computex in 2011 to see products and services from over 1,800 exhibitors.

Google I/O

Google I/O is an intensive three-day event that focuses on development for Android, Google Chrome, Google APIs and open web technologies. In 2012 it will feature more than 110 talks on Android, Chrome, Google+ and App Engine, plus Code Labs, a Hackathon and Developer Hangouts (live video chats). The conference has already sold out but Google will stream the opening keynote and all key technical sessions live on the web. Catchup videos from all talks at I/O will also be available to watch after 24 hours. Similar developer events include Apple’s WWDC, BlackBerry World and Nokia World.
