BlackBerry enthusiasts will get the lowdown on the latest platform and hardware developments during Research In Motion’s BlackBerry World developer conference and the best of the web will be honored at the 16th annual Webby Awards.

The annual BlackBerry Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES) is now part of BlackBerry World, a conference dedicated to Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry mobile phone and tablet platform. BlackBerry World features new technology and software announcements as well as discussions about how the BlackBerry mobile solution can be improved. BlackBerry World expects to attract around 5,000, putting it on par with Apple's WWDC and Google’s I/O developer events, but unlike WWDC and Google I/O, BlackBerry World is not just reserved for developers. There are Demo sessions to show products in action, BlackBerry Training sessions, hands-on labs, and keynotes by top industry executives.

16th Webby Awards

An international prize for the best of the Internet for websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, mobile and apps. Each of the 100 categories gets a Webby, awarded by the 1000-member academy, including David Bowie and Richard Branson, and The People’s Voice award. More than 10,000 entries come from over 60 countries with over 2 billion media impressions. Past winners have included Google, Twitter, Flickr and iTunes. Winners announced May 1 and the awards gala will be streamed live May 21 featuring the signature 5-word speeches and performances.

CTIA will host more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 40,000 spectators in 2012. The show covers wireless and converged communications, wireless broadband, mobile web computing and data industries, and in 2012 the focus is on "All things mobile." While Mobile World Congress puts the emphasis on consumer devices, CTIA is all about the technologies that power them, including Location Based Services (LBS), Smart Energy, Wireless Health, Intelligent Transportation, Cloud Computing and Mobile Money.

5th Internet Week New York

Internet Week is a citywide celebration of New York’s Web industry. Close to 200 events have been scheduled around the city bridging the fields of arts, technology, media, entertainment and social media. More than 45,000 people from around the world are expected to participate in talks, exhibits, panels and parties during the festival in 2012. The similarly themed Internet Week Europe takes place in November.

The Australian edition of the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event, CeBIT takes place annually in Sydney, Australia. CeBIT Australia is hailed as the country's largest ICT exhibition (but is only around a tenth of the size of its parent event, CeBIT in Hannover). CeBIT Australia is a focal point of an additional series of events (including Cloud, AusInnovate, eHealth, eGovernment, Mobile, Online Retail and Digital Workshops) that will run concurrently to the exhibition. More than 600 exhibitors and 30,000 delegates are expected to attend CeBIT Australia in 2012.

With 106,450 square meters of exhibition space, Computex Taipei (also known as the Taipei International Information Technology Show) is the largest computer exhibition in Asia, second in the world only to CeBIT in Germany. Google I/O is an intensive three-day event that focuses on development for Android, Google Chrome, Google APIs and open web technologies. In 2012 it will feature more than 110 talks on Android, Chrome, Google+ and App Engine, plus Code Labs, a Hackathon and Developer Hangouts (live video chats). The conference has already sold out but Google will stream the opening keynote and all key technical sessions live on the web.
