Renown Eastern European esports powerhouse Team Spirit announced its entry into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene on Thursday (7 March) with its acquisition of the former Deus Vult roster that turned heads everywhere at the M5 World Championship last December.

Team Spirit is one of the largest and most successful esports organisations in Europe, fielding powerhouse teams in titles like Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and League of Legends, among others. Team Spirit's flagship Dota 2 team notably claimed their second world championship at The International 2023 last October.

Team Spirit's MLBB roster includes German star Mathaios "Kid Bomba" Chatzilakos as well as Russian players Stanislav "SAWO" Reshnyak, Anton "HIKO" Pak, Kemiran "Sunset Lover" Kochkarov, and Sergei "Marl" Finashev.

Prior to signing with Team Spirit, the roster dominated MLBB's fledgling Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region under the banner of Deus Vult. The team claimed the championship during the first two seasons of the MLBB Continental Championships and enjoyed an unprecedented fourth place finish at M5, losing out to Filipino powerhouse Blacklist International in the lower bracket semifinals.

With their expansion into MLBB, Team Spirit will be looking to become a dominant force in yet another title with a young roster that have proven themselves worthy of standing toe to toe with the best teams in MLBB.

"Team Spirit is an international esports organisation that has proven to be among the world's best. Victories at The International, Riyadh Masters, and IEM Katowice are worthy results, but we don’t intend to stop. Therefore, the Team Spirit family is getting bigger and the organisation is spreading to new disciplines," Team Spirit CEO Nikita Cheshir Chukalin said in a press release.

"This year, we decided to pay close attention to mobile gaming. Throughout the organisation's existence, our strategy has been to recruit young talented players, and help them find their way to the top-tier. This time is not an exception: we believe that this Mobile Legends: Bang Bang roster will rise above the competition and quickly become part of Team Spirit's DNA."

Team Spirit's MLBB roster will be making their debut in Season 3 of the MLBB Continental Championships on 31 March. There, they will face seven other teams from EECA for the right to represent for the right to represent the region in MLBB's expanded international tournaments this year, which includes the US$3 million Mid-Season Cup in July.

"Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is another new discipline for us. We are happy to join the circuit in which I hope we can be a serious contender despite the formidable competition. We believe in the guys and know what they are capable of," said Chukalin.

"At the same time, we will do everything in our power to make them feel comfortable both during training and playing at major competitions. So that the only thing they are focused on will be their performance."
