Teacher Accused of Abuse, Handing 'Inappropriate' Note to 14-Year-Old Dies by Suicide 2 Days Later

A substitute teacher in the Clark County, Nev., School District (CCSD) has died by suicide two days after being arrested on child abuse charges.

Nicholas Bott, 44, who worked at a middle school in Clark County, was arrested Thursday, May 16 on a felony charge of child abuse and a charge of unlawful contact with a minor, reports NBC affiliate, KSNV.

Per police reports seen by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Bott was accused of handing "inappropriate" notes to a 14-year-old student. He was arrested on May 16 after an investigation began earlier that week. Per the police reports, he posted bond on Friday, May 17 and was due in court on June 20, KSNV reported.

The Clark County Office of the Coroner confirmed that Holt died by suicide from a gunshot wound to the head two days after his arrest, on Saturday, May 18, per multiple outlets including Fox affiliate KVVU-TV.
