Any Tennessean can bring their qualifying waste for disposal, even if they do not live in the county. Daniel Boone High School is located at 1440 Suncrest Drive in Gray.

Household hazardous waste will be collected from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

According to TDEC, household hazardous waste includes cleaning fluids, pesticides, pool chemicals, fluorescent lamps, lithium and button batteries, aerosols, medications, brake fluid, paint thinner and more.

All items should be brought in sturdy containers.

TDEC will not accept ammunition, explosives, alkaline batteries, electronics, paint or any empty containers that can be thrown out with typical trash.

No appointments are necessary.

TDEC reports more than 24 million pounds of materials have been collected from nearly 400,000 Tennessee households since the program began in 1993.

While the service is free for household waste, there is a cost attached to the disposal of Very Small Quantity Generator Waste. TDEC described those items as coming from sources such as businesses, schools, churches or farms. Those disposals will require an appointment, which can be made by calling (615) 643-3170.
