UPDATE: TDCJ escapee captured

Feb. 27—Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmate Calvin Lee Patterson, 23, was taken into custody by TDCJ staff around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, approximately 2.5 miles from the Stringfellow Unit.

"He was tracked by TDCJ scent dogs. Patterson will face felony escape charges," said Amanda Hernandez, TDCJ Director of Communications. "Thanks to local and state law enforcement and the Office of the Inspector General for assisting in the search and arrest."

Patterson was last seen by TDCJ personnel at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Stringfellow Unit in Rosharon, Texas, according to TDCJ.

Patterson is a probationer out of Harris County serving a nine-month sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
