MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is dead, and two other people are injured, including a Memphis Police officer, following a shooting in Raleigh Friday morning.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Freeman Sherman, Jr.

Memphis Police say they responded to reports of a stabbing a little after 3 a.m. in the 3000 block of Dumbarton Road.

When they arrived, they heard a disturbance inside the home. Once they entered, they found a man with a stab wound.

Officers say Sherman was in an upstairs bedroom and armed with several knives. Sherman began to swing a knife at the two officers, which caused one of them to fall down a flight of steps.
