TBI investigating deadly officer-involved shooting in Collierville

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is dead after a shooting involving Collierville Police Sunday night.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate by District Attorney Steve Mulroy.

Around 10:30 p.m., Collierville Police made a traffic stop for a speeding black Hyundai SUV at Poplar Avenue and Schilling Boulevard.

During the stop, a physical altercation happened between an officer and the driver.

The driver, identified as Antwon Booker, 30, reportedly grabbed the gun of one of the officers. The other officer fired his weapon, striking Booker.

Booker was pronounced dead at the hospital.

TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

According to T-B-I, this is Collierville’s fourth officer-involved shooting since 2019.
