Who is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for April 25-May 1
TAUNTON— It was another eventful week of high school sports in the Greater Taunton area.
Bristol-Plymouth baseball stayed undefeated, while Dighton-Rehoboth baseball coach Bill Cuthbertson recorded his 600th career win and then the Falcons put together an all-around strong performance to get him his 601st. Bridgewater-Raynham shut down opposing offenses while Taunton softball honored the memory of Lauren Bernett in their win over Mansfield.
Bridgewater-Raynham softball's Taylor Reid is the Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for April 18-23, having finished in the top spot with 49% of the vote. Taunton softball's Brooke Aldrich came in second with 17% while Bridgewater-Raynham girls lacrosse's Sophia Perry came in third with 10% of the vote.
Now is the time to choose the next Taunton Daily Gazette Player of the Week for April 25-May 1, with polls open through Sunday at noon and voting limited to one vote per person per hour.
BASEBALL
Andrew Cali, Taunton
Cali went three-for-three with a pair of runs and RBIs against Oliver Ames.
Nolan DeAndrade, Bridgewater-Raynham
DeAndrade went two-for-four with a home run and three RBIs against Dartmouth.
Nick Hall, Bristol-Plymouth
Hall had two hits and three RBIs against Upper Cape Tech.
Jayden LaFleur, Dighton-Rehoboth
LaFleur pitched a complete six-inning shutout, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out three against Apponequet.
SOFTBALL
Liv Mendonca, Taunton
Mendonca went all five innings giving up just a hit and a walk while striking out nine against Mansfield.
Emma Talpey, Bridgewater-Raynham
Talpey had four hits, four RBIs and a home run against Durfee.
Morgan Coughlin, Bristol-Plymouth
Coughlin tossed six innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six against Old Colony.
Eliana Raposo, Dighton-Rehoboth
Raposo tossed three perfect innings and went two-for-three with two runs and three RBIs, including a triple and two run home run, against Bourne.
BOYS LACROSSE
Christian Thornton, Bridgewater-Raynham
Thornton had six goals against Mansfield.
Kelan Reis, Bristol-Plymouth
Reis performed well in net against South Shore Tech.
Bryce Downs, Dighton-Rehoboth
Downs had five goals against Cardinal Spellman.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Sarah Clark, Taunton
Clark scored both goals against New Bedford.
Audrey Lambert, Bridgewater-Raynham
Lambert had three goals against Bishop Stang.
Elauna Bradford, Bristol-Plymouth
Bradford performed well in net against Old Colony.
Mara Levesque, Dighton-Rehoboth
Levesque had three goals against Old Rochester.
BOYS TENNIS
Nick Antonio, Dighton-Rehoboth
Antonio won second double with Luke Taylor 6-0, 6-2 against Somerset Berkley.
GIRLS TENNIS
Nicole Kimball, Bridgewater-Raynham
Kimball won first singles 6-0, 6-1 against Durfee.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Dmitrius Shearrion, Taunton
Shearrion won the 200 meter with a time of 0:22.5 against Franklin.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Emersyn DePonte, Taunton
DePonte won the two mile with a time of 12:09 against Franklin.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Ty Ekstrom, Taunton
Ekstrom had nine assists and two kills against North Quincy.
