The cities of Nizhnekamsk and Kazan in Tatarstan, Russia, were attacked by drones, and industrial enterprises were evacuated, Russian Telegram channels reported on May 23.

Videos of the UAVs were posted on social media. Employees of industrial enterprises are being taken to subway stations, according to the Telegram channel Inkazan.

An air raid warning was sounded over the TANECO and Taif-NK oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk, Astra wrote.

The city mayor's office claims that the evacuation is due to the risk of an "emergency situation".

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed later that it had "destroyed" one drone over Tatarstan.

The airports of Kazan and Nizhnekamsk suspended operations due to the threat of a UAV attack earlier on May 23.

Drone attacks on Tatarstan

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry launched a drone attack on an aircraft factory in Tatarstan, Russia, where Tu-22M and Tu-160M bombers are manufactured and repaired, NV sources reported on April 17.

An assembly shop at the main plant of the KamAZ corporation caught fire in Tatarstan on April 28.

Russia reported a drone attack and the alleged downing of a drone over the village of Verkhniy Uslon in Tatarstan on May 15. The village is located more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine.
