Tata Nano facelift spotted

Nikhil Puthran

The country’s most affordable entry-level car Tata Nano is due to be launched with a fresh facelift and has been codenamed ‘Pelican’. The new model is expected to get the biggest update till date and help the company in regenerating customer interest.

Based on what can be seen, the new Tata Nano Pelican does not seem to get major design upgrades except for new 13-inch tyres instead of 12-inch tyres on the current generation. The single wiper unit now gets a double arm design along with windshield washers. Mechanical details are not known for now, but it is anticipated that the car will continue to be powered by a retuned three-cylinder engine that might generate somewhere between 61bhp to 81bhp. The exterior does not seem to get major upgrades except for new 13-inch tyres instead of 12-inch tyres on the current generation.

Speaking of interiors, this is where the new Nano Pelican might get major upgrades. The upcoming car will get a new dashboard, instrument console and new seats. The AC vents have been redesigned and the car also featured the Harman ConnectNext infotainment system instead of the regular CD/MP3 system with Bluetooth seen in the GenX Nano. The centre positioned speedometer now features various lights, but seems to have missed the tachometer. More details about the car will be known in the coming days.
