Tata Motors managing director dies in Thailand
NEW DELHI (AP) — Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Slym has died while on a business trip to Bangkok, Thailand, the Indian company said Sunday. He was 51.
The statement did not state the cause of death, but the Press Trust of India news agency quoted a company spokesman as saying that Slym seemed to have fallen from a high floor of a hotel in Bangkok.
He was in Bangkok to attend a meeting of the board of directors of Tata Motors Thailand Ltd.
Slym joined Tata Motors in October 2012, and was providing leadership to the company through a challenging market environment, the company said in the statement, quoting Chairman Cyprus P. Mistry.
Before joining Tata Motors, Slym was executive vice president of SGMW Motors, China, and prior to that, president, managing director and board member of General Motors in India between 2007 and 2011, according to PTI.
