Taskmaster has announced the premiere date for series 17, and fans don't have long to wait.

New episodes of the fan-favourite comedy gameshow, overseen by Greg Davies and Alex Horne, will hit screens at 9pm on Thursday, March 28.

Attempting to impress Greg and Alex this time around will be Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed and Inside No. 9 star and co-creator Steve Pemberton, as well as Joanne McNally, Sophie Willan and John Robins.

Channel 4 has teased that the new line-up will "attempt to hunt for patatas" and "hoopla a gorilla" as part of the Taskmaster's latest set of challenges.

Across 10 jam-packed episodes, the cast will take part in hilarious tasks at the iconic Taskmaster house, and also by picturesque rivers and on fields patrolled by "aggressive flatulent wild horses".

An official photo of the five-strong line-up in their task outfits has also been released, with Mohammed notably wearing an eye-catching vampire costume and matching make-up – which also featured in a first-look clip for the series.

The last series of Taskmaster was won by Sam Campbell, who finished ahead of Lucy Beaumont, Julian Clary, Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma.

In March 2023, fans of the show got the good news that Taskmaster will remain on screens for another three years, after being renewed for a further six series.

A brand new junior spin-off has also been announced, which is set to be hosted by Taskmaster veterans Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak.

"I've watched many, many comedians flounder when given simple instructions over the past few years, and I fully expect the competitors in Junior Taskmaster to be both more competent and just as funny," said co-host and show creator Alex Horne.

Taskmaster season 17 will start on March 28 on Channel 4 at 9pm.
