Taskmaster season 17 spoilers follow.

Taskmaster fans were treated to a bizarre, if unintentional, crossover with The Handmaid's Tale in one of the show's absurd challenges.

In tonight's (April 11) episode, comedians Joanne McNally, John Robins, Nick Mohammed, Sophie Willan and Steve Pemberton once again were up against each other for the chance to win Taskmaster Greg Davies' gilded head.

In one guessing challenge, the quintet were made to rock some interesting outfits that fans immediately linked to the dystopian show led by Elisabeth Moss.

The task saw each contender being followed by an inflatable Mr Blobby, the pink, yellow-dotted, ever-grinning character featured inthe BBC's Noel's House Party.

While viewers at home were well aware of the identity of the mysterious character, the stars had to guess who were following them by asking a series of questions. No cheating allowed, which is where the white bonnets came into play, limiting the comedians' peripheral vision.

As the stars were having a hard time completing the challenge against the clock, fans had a field day, taking to Twitter/X to spot all the possible references to those white wings.

"not entirely convinced by this hard reboot of The Handmaid's Tale," one fan wrote alongside a picture of McNally in the white cap and a red utility jumpsuit reminiscing of June's outfit in the acclaimed show.

"I see no difference here," one person chimed in, posting a side-by-side image of McNally and Moss's character.

Mohammed also caught fans' eyes for wearing the bonnet to complete his usual vampire outfit and ashen makeup.

"Very much looking forward to the new series of The Handmaid's Tale - Return of the vampire handmaidens," one person noted.

Meanwhile, someone else likened the challenge to 2014 horror It Follows, joking that the film's reboot was "a bit rubbish" and posting an image of Willan tailed by a rather creepy Mr Blobby.

McNally ended up earning 5 points for the challenge but her efforts weren't enough to best Robins, who was ultimately in the lead with 22 points.

Taskmaster airs and streams on Thursday nights at 9pm on Channel 4, where you can also stream previous series.
