TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Forget something? You’re more likely to if you’re from one of these cities, a new study shows.

A study conducted by Uber over the past 12 months looked at the most forgotten items left in Ubers, along with which cities had the most forgetful passengers.

Uber’s 2024 Lost & Found Index found that the most commonly forgotten item was clothing, followed by luggage, headphones, wallets, and jewelry, in that respective order. Other prized possessions commonly left were phones, cameras, tablets/books, laptops, and vapes.

Tampa ranked as the No. 8 city with the most forgetful passengers, behind two other Florida cities ranking high up on the list.

Here’s how the top 10 ranked in the nation for the most forgetful cities:

  • 3. Atlanta, Georgia

  • 4. Houston, Texas

  • 5. Dallas, Texas

  • 6. Orlando, Florida

  • 7. Phoneix, Arizona

  • 8. Tampa Bay, Florida

  • 9. Denver, Colorado

  • 10. Austin, Texas

The ride-sharing company also included some fun and “unique” items lost including a fake butt, a candle that said “See you in court” on it, a live pet turtle, a poster of Hillary Clinton, and a paternity test.

Uber said the best way to track down your beloved items is to open their app and click on the “Activity” icon at the bottom. Select the trip on which you lost the item and scroll to “Find lost item” in the Help section.

Then, click on the contact your driver about the lost item and enter your phone number. Uber said to coordinate with the driver to get the item back, and if they don’t answer, to leave a detailed voicemail about the item and about getting in contact.
