"The Taking of Tiger Mountain" wins big at Golden Rooster

21 Sep - Tsui Hark's "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" recently became the biggest winner at the 30th Golden Rooster Awards, winning three out of the five awards it was nominated for.

As reported on ECNS, the movie, which tells the story of a communist reconnaissance soldier disguising himself as a bandit to infiltrate and destroy a gang during the Chinese Civil War in 1946, grabbed Best Director for Tsui as well as Best Editing at the event that was held on 19 September.

Its lead star Zhang Hanyu also won Best Actor, beating out other worthy nominees including Golden Horse winner Chen Jianbin and Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau.

Jean Jacques-Annaud's film, "Wolf Totem", won Best Film.
