Taiwan conducts drills for Chinese attack

STORY: The drill involved simulated missile attacks on buildings and public transportation.

In reaction to the Ukraine crisis and amid a heightened sense of threat in Taiwan, this year’s drills have been modified to prepare emergency services and citizens for an assault by Taiwan’s long-time rival and increasingly belligerent neighbour China.

The simulated attack was part of the yearly Minan civil defence drill that cities and municipalities throughout Taiwan conduct to raise readiness for a military attack by China or other emergencies like natural disasters.

It comes ahead of Taiwan’s most important annual Han Kuang military drills later this month.
