Taal volcano news: ‘Hazardous eruption’ set to hit Philippines within hours, authorities warn

Local authorities have warned of a “hazardous eruption” within “hours or days” after the Taal volcano in the Philippines began spewing lava on Monday.

Initial volcanic activity forced local villagers to flee en masse while clouds of ash blew more than 62 miles north of the volcano, reaching the capital Manila and forcing the shutdown of the country’s main airport.

There have been no reports of casualties or major damage from the volcano’s eruption that began on Sunday. Follow our live updates below:
