AT&T bringing fiber internet service to Northeast Pennsylvania

May 15—AT&T plans to bring high-speed fiber internet service to thousands of residents and businesses in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region later this year through an arrangement with BlackRock.

The service, made possible through the Gigapower LLC joint venture between AT&T and BlackRock through a fund managed by its Diversified Infrastructure business, intends to provide a state-of-the-art fiber network to internet service providers and other businesses in parts of select metro areas using a commercial wholesale open access platform.

AT&T noted its fiber provides multi-gig speeds and high bandwidth meaning customers can connect dozens of devices to the network without compromising performance, reliability or speed.
